Good morning.
It's Saturday, October twenty-fourth.
Listen.
It's raining.
Not a storm.
Just a steady, gray sort of rain.
The kind that settles in for the day.
Some mornings rain feels like bad news.
Canceled plans.
Wet socks.
But on a Saturday...
it can feel like permission.
The yard work can wait.
Nobody expects you out there today.
There's nowhere you need to be.
The rain has made that decision for you.
Get cozy.
Wherever you are.
Tuck your feet up under you.
We have six minutes.
Let the rain set the pace.
Listen to the rain for a moment.
It isn't in a hurry.
Let your breath slow down to match it.
Breathe in gently...
as the rain keeps falling.
And breathe out...
slow, like water down a gutter.
In again...
soft and easy.
And out...
a little longer.
One more.
In...
And out...
all the way.
Now let your breath do its own The thing.
rain will keep time.
Picture a window near you.
Cool glass.
Rain running down the other side.
You're inside.
Warm and dry.
Maybe in a big sweater.
Watch one raindrop land on the glass.
It sits there for a second.
Then it starts to slide.
Now think of a small Something worry.
from this Something week.
that's still hanging Maybe around.
a bill you haven't Or opened.
a text you haven't answered You're yet.
still not sure what to say.
Put that worry in the raindrop.
Watch it slide down the Slowly.
glass.
Joining other drops on the way.
All the way down to the sill.
And off the Gone.
edge.
Here comes another Maybe drop.
you have another worry.
That thing you said at dinner.
The noise the car keeps making.
Let it land glass.
on the Let it slide.
You don't have to push it.
Gravity does all the work.
That's the nice thing about rain.
It always goes down and away.
If a worry sticks for a while...
that's okay.
Some drops are slower.
Just watch it.
Sooner or later, it slides too.
And look at the now.
glass
Wet and blurry.
But clearer, somehow.
Let these words fall softly.
Like rain on the I roof.
can let today be slow.
My worries can wait outside.
Just stay inside for a while.
Warm.
Dry.
The rain keeps falling.
It has its own work to do.
A car goes by.
Tires hissing on the wet street.
Then quiet again.
Somewhere a gutter is dripping.
Plink.
Plink.
The whole neighborhood is staying in.
Even the dog next door.
If your mind wanders...
follow the rain back.
It's always right there.
Let the room come back.
The rain is still going.
That's fine.
Stretch slowly.
Arms up.
Point your toes.
One cozy breath And out.
Now plan one cozy thing for today.
Here's my vote.
This afternoon...
lie down on the couch.
Pull the throw blanket over you.
Leave the TV off.
Just listen to the rain on the glass.
Maybe a mug of something hot nearby.
Getting cold, because you forgot it.
If you fall asleep, great.
If you don't, that's still a win.
Lying still on a rainy day counts.
It always has.
Open your eyes when you're ready.
Enjoy your rainy Saturday.
