There's a version of today where things go well.
Let's spend six minutes getting you ready for that one.
Sit somewhere you can keep your back fairly straight.
A chair is good.
The edge of the bed works too.
Put both feet flat on the floor.
Rest your hands on your thighs, palms down.
Close your eyes if that feels You okay.
might already be running through the list in That's your head.
The normal.
list will still be there in six minutes.
I promise.
We'll start with three strong breaths.
Bigger than Like usual.
you're filling up before a swim.
First one.
Breathe in deep through your nose...
all the way up.
And push it out through your mouth.
Firm.
Like blowing out a candle across the room.
Second one.
In through the nose...
let your chest lift and widen.
And out, strong and complete.
Last one.
Breathe in...
and feel your spine grow a little taller as you do.
And let it go.
Then just breathe normally again.
Now a few words for today.
I'll say each one, and you say it back in your head.
Or out loud, if nobody's around to hear.
You don't have to believe them completely yet.
Just try them on, the way you'd try on a jacket before deciding.
I am focused.
I follow through.
I am growing.
I am capable of good work today.
Notice which one felt a bit awkward to say.
That's usually the one you need most Say today.
that one again, slowly.
Now let's walk through the day before it happens.
Hour by Nothing hour.
grand, just the real stuff.
See the next hour.
You're up, you've had something to drink, and you start the first task without
circling it for half the morning.
Mid-morning.
Something small goes wrong.
An email, a delay.
And you handle it.
Not perfectly.
Just calmly, and then you move on.
Late morning there's the thing you've been putting off.
Maybe it's a phone call you keep moving to tomorrow.
See yourself just doing Your it.
heart might beat a bit faster.
That's courage, and it counts.
Around lunchtime you take a proper break.
You actually sit down and eat.
You look up from the screen for a minute.
The afternoon has that slump it always has.
You notice it, take one of those strong breaths, and pick up where you
left off.
And the evening.
You look back and there it is.
One thing you finished.
Maybe more.
Let yourself feel how good that is.
If your mind jumped ahead to worries while you pictured all that, fine.
Minds do that.
Come back to the version where it goes well.
Here's the one to carry with you.
Success is built today.
It gets built in the ordinary hours you just walked through.
One small finished thing at a time.
And your success doesn't have to look like anyone else's.
Today it can simply mean you kept your word to yourself.
Success is built today.
Rest here for a few breaths.
Feet on the floor.
Back tall.
Nothing to prove right now.
Just notice how it feels to be steady.
Remember this.
You can find it again later, even in room.
a busy
Okay.
Time to go.
Wiggle your fingers.
Roll your shoulders once.
Take a big stretch up over your head.
Open your eyes.
Look at the room like it's the start of something.
Now stand up.
Actually stand.
And go do the first thing on your list, right away, this while feeling
is still warm.
