5 Minute Morning Meditation
An original 5 minute morning guided meditation for choosing how you want to feel before the day chooses for you. Sit, close the eyes, and set a simple inner climate — calm, clear, and on your own side — no matter what is waiting on the phone.

To begin this morning meditation, sit up shortly after waking, spine long and kind.
When your body feels ready, you may softly close your eyes.
With attention inward, take a moment to meet the day as a breath, not a problem.
First, simply noticing the spine — a quiet stack from sit-bones toward the crown.
You do not have to become the day yet. Only inhabit this posture.
What else do you notice in the body that slept, and is now upright?
What is it like to be newly awake, without rushing the first hour into a list?
You can let morning be physical: temperature, light on the lids, the next inhale.
There is nothing to solve before the breath. The day can arrive one cycle at a time.
Soften the jaw. Soften the shoulders. Let the spine stay tall without strain.
And letting uprightness be enough.
Continue now with your breath, as well as this vertical line through the torso.
If the first worry appears, see it as weather. Return to sitting and breathing.
Thoughts may keep moving. You do not have to organize them yet.
Keeping this inward turn, allow your awareness to include the room you woke inside.
As if morning is simply air moving, and you are a body learning it again.
There is nothing to do yet. There is nowhere else you must already be.
If your mind wanders, that is okay. Escort it back to spine and breath.
Being connected to the upright body, the breath, and this first stretch of day.
You let morning be possible. Including the grogginess.
Now let your attention travel back. Roll the shoulders. Wiggle the fingers.
Take this unhurried spine with you, as you slowly open your eyes.
