Good morning.
It's Thursday, November nineteenth.
Sit up tall for this one.
Not stiff.
Just tall, like you mean it.
Let the top of your head lift.
Let your chin tip down a little.
Most mornings we jump straight into the what.
What's due.
What's for dinner.
This morning...
let's spend six minutes on the why.
It sounds big.
It doesn't have to be.
Let's find a center first.
Breathe in slowly through your nose.
And out slowly.
Same pace.
In again.
Feel your spine get a bit longer.
And out.
Let your shoulders settle down your back.
Once more.
Slow in...
Slow out...
Good.
Let the breath keep that pace.
Steady, like walking uphill.
Picture yourself on top of a hill.
A wide green hill.
Nothing around but grass and sky.
The wind is moving through the grass.
It bends in long waves.
You can see a long way from here.
Little roads.
A farmhouse way off in the distance.
Up here, the small stuff looks small.
The inbox.
The dishes in the sink.
Now ask yourself a quiet question.
Don't rush the answer.
What matters most to me?
Let whatever comes...
come.
Maybe it's a face.
Your kid.
Your partner.
Your oldest friend.
Maybe it's something you do.
Being useful to someone.
Making things with your hands.
Maybe it's something you haven't said out loud.
A dream you keep tucked away.
Whatever it is...
let it stand here with you.
Right beside you on the Notice hill.
what happens in your chest.
Maybe it lifts a little.
Maybe it gets quiet.
That's how purpose usually feels.
Not fireworks.
More like a compass settling needle...
on north.
Ask once more.
What matters most to me?
If the the answer is same...
good.
If something new showed up...
that's worth paying attention to.
Purpose doesn't have to be a job title.
Or a big mission statement.
It can be as simple as...
I want my people to feel loved.
Or...
I want to leave things a bit better.
Wherever I happen to be.
A kind word to the cashier counts.
So does a good report.
Done carefully, for someone who needs it.
Purpose mostly lives in ordinary days.
Plain Thursdays, like this one.
That's good news, really.
You get a lot of those.
Two lines to carry down the hill.
What I do today matters.
I know what I care about.
Stay on the hill for a while.
The wind in your hair.
Whatever matters most...
still standing there with you.
You don't need to act on it yet.
Just clear.
let it be Like the air up here.
Cool and clean.
Start walking back down the hill.
Slowly.
Bring what you found with you.
Feel your seat again.
Press your palms together.
Then let them open.
One tall breath in...
And out.
Now pick one thing to do today.
Something that lines up with your answer.
If it was your kid...
put your phone away at dinner.
Ask about their day.
And really listen.
If it was making things...
maybe one sketch on your lunch break.
Small is It perfect.
just has to point the right way.
Open your eyes when you're ready.
Go have a that Thursday means something.
