Good morning.
It's Sunday, October twenty-fifth.
Monday is still a day away.
Today's a good day to look at it.
Before it starts pulling on you.
From every side.
Let's start with your body.
Sit so your weight is even.
Notice if you're leaning.
Maybe onto one hip.
Maybe forward, like you're already late.
Rock gently side to side.
Left.
Right.
Smaller each time.
Until you land in the middle.
That's your center.
It's been here the whole time.
We have six minutes.
Let's spend them finding level ground.
Now let's make the breath even too.
In for five.
Out for five.
Breathe in...
two...
three...
And out...
four...
two...
three...
four...
five.
five.
In...
two...
three...
four...
five.
Out...
two...
three...
four...
five.
Keep that going on your own.
Same length in.
Same length out.
Like water finding its own level.
No tipping either way.
Now let the counting fade.
Keep the evenness.
Picture an old brass scale.
The kind with two little pans.
Hanging from a beam.
On the left side...
put your work.
The emails.
The meetings.
The stuff you think about in the shower.
On the right side...
put your rest.
A full night's sleep.
Dinner that isn't eaten standing up.
And people, too.
The friend you keep saying you'll call.
Now just look.
Which side is lower?
For a lot of us...
work sinks right to the table.
Rest floats up high.
Don't be hard on yourself about it.
That's just how the last few weeks went.
Deadlines pile up.
Somebody gets sick.
Life doesn't check the scale first.
just drops things on.
Now, slowly...
take one small thing off the work side.
Maybe checking email after dinner.
Just lift it off.
Set it down on the floor.
Watch the scale shift.
Just a little.
Now add one thing to the rest side.
Something small.
A Tuesday night with no plans.
Or an actual lunch break.
Place it in the pan.
Feel the weight of it.
Watch the beam move.
Slowly.
Coming closer to level.
It might not get perfectly even.
It doesn't have to.
Balance isn't a place you stay.
It's more like a stream.
Always moving, always adjusting.
You just keep nudging it back.
Say this quietly to yourself.
There's room for work and rest.
I can bring myself back to center.
Rest here in the middle.
Nothing tipping.
Feel how quiet it is at center.
Like the eye of a busy week.
Listen to the stream.
Water finding its way around rocks.
It just slips around them.
A little to the left.
Then a little to the right.
If you notice yourself leaning...
toward Monday...
just come back to center.
Let the scale fade.
Feel your seat again.
Still even.
Stretch one arm up.
Then the other.
One even breath in...
And out.
Now choose one thing for this week.
Just one.
Something to take off.
Or something to add.
Then put it on your calendar today.
Like a real appointment.
That way Monday can't argue with it.
Small changes are the ones that stick.
Open your eyes when you're ready.
Have a steady Sunday.
