Good morning.
It's Monday, November twenty-third.
This might be a big week.
Maybe it's a short work week.
Which somehow means twice the work.
Take a second to notice it.
The week ahead.
All of it, sitting out there.
You might feel your chest tighten.
Or your mind start making lists.
That's Let normal.
it happen.
Then take You a breath.
don't have to solve the week Just now.
this morning.
Just these six minutes.
Let's try a breath called a double sigh.
Two short breaths in through the nose.
Then one long breath out.
Here we go.
Breathe in...
and then a little sip more on top.
Now let it all out.
Long and slow through the mouth.
Again.
In...
and a little more.
And a long, slow sigh out.
One more.
In...
and top it off.
And let it all go.
Notice how that felt.
It's the same sound you make...
when you drop your bags at the door.
Your body already knows this one.
We're just using it on purpose.
You can do it anywhere.
It just takes a few seconds.
Now picture the week.
Not as one big pile.
Picture it as a staircase.
Lots of small steps.
Each one about the height of a curb.
Every task is one step.
The email.
The grocery run.
The report that's due Wednesday.
From the bottom...
the staircase looks tall.
You can't see the top from here.
That's okay.
You don't need to.
Look down at your feet instead.
At just the first step.
What is it?
What's the very first thing today?
Not the whole project.
Just the first piece.
Maybe opening the laptop.
Maybe writing one line of that email.
See yourself doing it.
Calmly.
One foot up.
And that's it.
You're on the first step.
Then the next one shows up.
And you take that one.
People who get through busy weeks...
aren't doing it all at once.
They're just doing the next thing.
Then the next.
The steps don't get easier.
But you stop looking at the top.
And that helps a lot.
Some things won't get done.
Almost every busy week has a few.
That's not failure.
That's just a full week.
Pick the few that really matter.
Let the rest wait politely.
Most of it can wait till next week.
And if someone asks for one more thing...
you're allowed to say, not this week.
Try these two on,
quietly.
I only need to do the next thing.
One step is enough for now.
Rest here at the bottom of the stairs.
You haven't started yet.
And that's fine.
The week will still be there.
It's not going anywhere.
For now...
just this breath.
And then this one.
Start to come back.
Feel your feet on the floor.
Roll your wrists.
Stretch your fingers wide.
Then make a soft fist.
One more double sigh.
In...
and a little more.
And a long breath out.
Here's your one thing for today.
Use that sigh between tasks.
You finish an email.
Sigh.
Then start the next thing.
You hang up a call.
Sigh.
Then move on.
It's a tiny reset.
Like wiping a whiteboard clean.
From the outside it looks like nothing.
You'll feel it by lunch.
Open your eyes when you're ready.
First step first.
