Good morning.
It's Wednesday, October seventh.
You're halfway through the week.
The middle of the bridge.
Monday feels far back.
Friday's still a ways off.
This is usually when things speed up.
The emails pile.
You start eating lunch at your desk.
So let's pause here.
Right in the middle.
Before the week picks you up...
and carries you off again.
Sit comfortably.
Let your back rest against something.
How are you, really?
A little wound up?
A little tired?
Whatever it is, that's fine.
We'll from start there.
Six minutes, nice and slow.
Place one hand on your belly.
Just below your ribs.
Let it rest there.
Warm and heavy.
Breathe in slowly through your nose.
Feel your hand rise.
Breathe out.
Feel your hand sink back down.
In again...
the belly gets round and soft.
And out...
slow as the creek.
In...
no need to hurry it.
Out...
let it take its time.
Once more.
In...
And out.
Your hand going up and down.
Like a small boat on easy water.
Keep it there if it's comfortable.
Or let it rest in your lap.
Now let's find where you're holding on.
Start with your forehead.
Is there a little crease there?
The one you get reading emails.
Raise your eyebrows high.
Like you just heard big news.
And let them fall.
Smooth.
Like a sheet settling on a bed.
Feel that?
That spot was working hard.
For no real reason.
Now your eyes.
They'll stare at screens all day.
Give them a little time off.
Before the laptop opens.
Let them go soft behind the lids.
Heavy, like they're sinking back.
Now your tongue.
It's probably pressed up high.
Let it drop.
Let it rest low and loose.
Funny how much that helps.
Now your belly.
Midweek, it tends to tighten.
Like it's bracing for something.
Let it round out on the next breath.
No sucking in.
Let your waistband feel it.
Now check in again.
Forehead smooth.
Belly soft.
Maybe your body feels a size bigger.
Like it finally has room to spread out.
That's what calm feels like from inside.
Not perfect.
Just less gripping.
Try these words quietly.
I can slow down.
Even on a busy day.
I don't have to match the rush.
Rest in this quieter body.
The one you just made.
Listen to the creek.
It keeps moving.
But it never rushes.
If that crease comes back...
just notice it.
Let your eyebrows drop again.
The day will ask for plenty later.
Right now it's asking for nothing.
Let your breath find its own speed.
Your rising belly,
and falling.
Let the water sound fade back.
Notice the room again.
Stretch your arms forward.
Lace your fingers.
Push your palms away from you.
One full breath in...
And out.
Here's your one thing for today.
Grab your phone for a second.
Set a reminder for lunchtime.
Call it "three belly breaths."
That's it.
When it buzzes...
hand on your belly.
Three slow breaths, just It like now.
takes less time than a coffee refill.
And nobody has to know you're doing it.
Open your Enjoy eyes.
the easy half of the week.
