A 5 Minute Morning Meditation for Letting Go
Last night does not get a sequel unless you cast it. This five-minute morning guide puts the replay down so today can be its own film.
Before you begin
The phone does not get the old argument.

To begin, leave last night where it belongs, and sit.
Whatever that looks like for you.
When you are ready, softly close your eyes.
With your eyes closed, take a moment to arrive in this new light.
First, simply noticing the body here, not last night's argument.
The weight of gravity. The surface that is holding you.
What else do you notice, besides the replay?
What is it like to stop continuing the argument?
You can care, and still stop carrying.
Letting go now is how you keep today from becoming a sequel.
On each exhale, put a little of yesterday down. For this morning.
And letting the hands be empty.
Continue now with your breath, as well as this unburdening.
Loosen the jaw around what you replayed in the dark.
What do you notice when you stop holding last night?
Just observe. Accept. You are not required to finish the argument.
Allow the room around you. This morning is not a courtroom.
As if empty hands were space for the day, not a lack.
There is nothing to redo. There is this breath.
If the mind picks the old thread up, set it down again.
Stay with breath, body, and a morning that is not last night.
You walk forward unburdened by what you cannot redo.
Let attention travel back. Shoulders, fingers, toes — still not picking it up.
Open your eyes. Do not collect the old argument with the phone. Begin.
