It's the first day of a new month.
A good day to put something down that you've been carrying too Get tightly.
comfortable, sitting or lying down.
Let your eyes close.
We've got six minutes, and nothing needs to be solved in them.
Ask yourself, gently...
what am I trying to control right now?
Maybe it's how someone feels about you.
Maybe it's money, or a result you're waiting on, or when something will finally
happen.
Let the answer come without judging it.
You've probably been holding it for a while, checking on it, replaying it at
night.
You're allowed to be tired of that.
When we try to control things, the body usually grips too.
Let's go looking for where.
Start with your jaw.
Is it clenched?
Are your back teeth pressed together?
Let them come apart a little.
Now your hands.
Are they curled up, or holding on to something?
Let the fingers go slack.
And your belly.
A lot of us hold it in all day without realizing.
Let it be soft.
Let it round out when you breathe.
Breathe in, low into that soft belly...
And breathe out, letting the grip loosen everywhere at once.
Now turn your palms up.
Let them rest open on your legs, or by your sides.
It's a small thing.
But notice how different it feels to hold your hands this way.
Open.
Ready to receive, instead of hold on.
Breathe in slowly...
And as you breathe out, say quietly to yourself...
I let go.
Breathe in again...
And out...
I let go.
Letting go doesn't mean giving up.
You still care.
You'll still show up and do your part.
You're just putting down the part that was never yours to carry.
Now picture a wide, slow river on a warm day.
The water is clear and calm.
You lie back on the surface, and it holds you.
Easily.
You don't have to swim.
You don't have to steer.
Feel the sun on your face.
Cool water around your ears, so the world goes muffled and quiet.
Your arms float out to the sides, palms still open to the sky.
Breathe in, and feel yourself rise a little on the water...
Breathe out, and sink back, still held.
The current carries you along, around a bend you can't see past yet.
That's fine.
The river has been going this way for a very long time.
It knows the Sometimes way to the sea.
it moves faster.
Sometimes it slows down in a wide, lazy pool.
Either way, it keeps going, and so do you.
If your mind grabs for the bank, trying and to plan fix again, that's
okay.
That's just an old habit.
Let go of the bank, and float.
Say these slowly, and let each one sink in.
What's meant for me will find I me.
don't need to see the whole path to take the next I step.
can rest while things unfold.
I am held.
Stay here, floating, open.
palms
Let the river do the work for a little while.
There's nothing you need to decide right now.
Whatever is on its way to you can take its own time getting here.
Okay.
Let the river bring you gently to the shore.
Take a deeper breath in...
And out.
let it
Curl and uncurl your fingers.
Move your feet.
Stretch a little, however your body wants to.
When you're ready, open your eyes.
The thing you were gripping is there.
still You're just holding it more loosely now.
A whole new month, you don't force have to any of it.
Take it one bend at a time.
