It's Saturday.
And for once...
nobody needs anything from you right now.
Let's keep it that way.
For six minutes, at least.
Find the softest spot you can.
The couch, or the bed.
Pull a blanket over your knees.
Let your body sink down.
Heavier.
Let the cushions do the holding.
Breathe in, slow and easy...
And out...
even slower.
Hear the rain on the window.
A soft, lazy sound.
The kind that says So stay in.
how was your week?
Really?
Maybe you covered for a coworker.
Drove someone to practice.
Listened to a friend's bad news at Maybe midnight.
you remembered everyone's stuff.
The dentist appointment.
The birthday card for your sister-in-law.
And somewhere in there...
you forgot yourself.
Lunch at your desk.
Late to bed.
Check in now.
How full is your cup?
Maybe there's a little left at the bottom.
Maybe it's bone dry.
Notice how that feels in your body.
Maybe a heaviness behind your eyes.
Maybe you're just flat.
Too tired to even want anything.
That's what running on empty feels like.
It isn't laziness.
You've been giving all week.
And you can't pour...
from a cup that's empty.
So let's fill it back up.
Picture a warm, golden light.
Like late sun through a kitchen window.
Let it start at your feet.
Your toes.
Your heels.
Feel them warming.
Breathe in...
and let the light rise.
Up through your ankles.
Into your calves.
Slow, like a tide coming in.
Breathe out...
and let your legs go loose.
Now the light fills your knees.
And your hips.
Warm and heavy.
Breathe in...
and let it rise into your belly.
Feel it spread across your lower back.
Right where you carry things.
Let that spot soften.
Breathe out...
Now up into your chest.
Let the warmth settle there.
Around your heart.
Feel it pour down your arms.
Into your hands.
All the way to your fingertips.
Breathe in...
and let it rise into your neck.
Into your jaw.
Softly around your eyes.
And breathe out...
as it fills the top of your head.
You're full now.
Warm from your feet to your hair.
This is yours too.
Not just something you give away.
Say it to yourself, if you like.
I get to be looked after too.
It might feel strange to say.
A lot of us are better at giving...
than at getting.
That's okay.
You can practice getting.
Right here, where nobody's watching.
Now just rest.
Full and quiet.
Nothing to give right now.
No one to take care of.
Just you, taking care of you.
Listen to the rain.
Let it keep the world outside.
Just for a while.
Breathe in...
And out...
If a to-do sneaks in...
let it go back out the door.
It's Saturday.
It can wait.
Alright.
Keep that warmth as you move.
Stretch out long.
Arms long.
Toes pointed.
Then let it all go.
One slow breath in...
And out.
Here's your next step.
Do one real thing for yourself today.
Not scrolling in bed.
Something that actually fills you.
Run yourself a warm bath this afternoon.
Put your phone in the other room.
Stay in until the water cools.
If you don't have a tub...
a long hot shower works too.
The kind that fogs up the mirror.
No podcast.
No planning in there.
Just the warm water.
You filled everyone else's cup all week.
This one's yours.
Go start the water.
