Good morning.
It's Friday, October twenty-third.
The weekend is right there.
You can almost see it from here.
Let that feel good.
You don't have to wait until five.
Get settled.
Pull a blanket over your lap.
Or lean back in your chair.
This morning we'll look for the good.
Not because everything was great.
Just because the good gets skipped.
We tend to remember the bad parts.
The late bus.
The awkward meeting.
So for six minutes...
let's even out the score.
Here's the breath for today.
Breathe in something good.
Breathe out a small thank-you.
Breathe in slowly...
like the first warm air from a heater.
And breathe out...
thanks.
In again...
the smell of toast, maybe.
And out...
thanks.
One more.
In, slow and full...
And out...
thanks for this morning.
Now let the breath go back to normal.
Keep the warm feeling, if it stayed.
Now look back at this week.
Day Like by day.
flipping a paper calendar.
Start with Monday.
Find one thing that went Just okay.
okay is Maybe plenty.
the kids got to school on Or time.
the coffee was ready before you were.
Now Tuesday.
Something you finished.
Or finally stopped putting Maybe off.
you called the insurance company.
And sat through all the hold music.
Give yourself a little credit for Nobody it.
else saw that Wednesday.
effort.
Was there a little bit of luck?
Every light turned green on the way home.
Or the leftovers were better the second night.
Let it make you smile a little.
You were there for it.
Thursday.
Think of a person.
Someone who made the day easier.
A neighbor who brought in your trash cans.
A friend who laughed at your bad joke.
See their face for a second.
Maybe you never thanked them.
You feel can still it.
And this morning.
You're here.
You made a little room for yourself.
Look at that.
Something good in every single day.
Even the long ones.
And you probably skipped a dozen more.
That's what positivity really is.
Counting the good along with the hard.
Both go on the calendar.
Say these quietly to yourself.
A lot went right this week.
I get to notice the good.
Let that feeling fill your chest.
Slowly.
Like warm water in a mug.
It doesn't have to be loud.
Quiet good is still good.
Listen to the birds for a bit.
They're having a pretty nice Friday too.
The light comes in low in October.
Long stripes across the floor.
If a hard moment shows up...
let it.
It's part of the week too.
You don't have to pretend it didn't happen.
It just isn't the whole story.
There's a lot more in there.
Then come back to your good days.
They're still here.
Let the room come back around you.
Stretch your arms out wide.
One bright breath in...
And out.
Here's one small thing for today.
Finish one task that helps Monday you.
Clear off your desk.
Or answer the email you'd dread on Monday.
Just one.
Future you will be very grateful.
Picture Monday morning.
You sit down.
And that one thing is already done.
End the week on a good note.
Then go enjoy the weekend.
Open your eyes when Happy you're ready.
Friday.
