Good morning.
It's Friday, October ninth.
Hear that?
The birds sound busy today.
Like they have gossip to share.
Get cozy wherever you are.
Pull your knees up, if you like.
Now, don't force anything.
But let the corners of your mouth...
soften a little.
Not a big grin.
Just the start of one.
Sometimes a smile shows up first.
And the good mood follows it in.
It's Friday.
That alone is worth a small smile.
Let's take six minutes...
and let the day start light.
Here's a fun way to breathe.
Breathe in through your nose...
like you're smelling something you love.
Fresh bread.
Cut grass.
Your favorite person's sweater.
And breathe out...
with a soft Like a little laugh.
Again.
Breathe in that good smell...
And out...
"ha."
It might feel a bit silly.
That's okay.
Silly is allowed this morning.
One more.
In, slow and sweet...
And out,
with an easy sigh.
Notice your chest.
Maybe it feels a little lifted.
Lighter than when we started.
Now think back over this week.
Find one happy moment.
It can be tiny.
Tiny is perfect, actually.
Big moments get enough attention.
Maybe a stranger held the elevator.
Maybe your dog lost it...
when you came home.
Maybe you laughed so hard at dinner...
you had to put your fork down.
Pick one.
Whatever shows up first.
Now play it back in full color.
Slowly, like a favorite movie scene.
Where were you?
Who else was there?
What could you hear?
Maybe music from somebody's car.
Or voices drifting in from the kitchen.
What was the light like?
Afternoon gold?
Or the blue glow of a late night?
What did your face do?
Did your eyes crinkle up?
Let yourself feel it again.
Right now.
As if it's happening all over.
That little bubble in your chest.
The kind that wants to be shared.
That's joy.
It came from something small.
And it's still here, days later.
Isn't that kind of amazing?
You got to keep it.
Now let the joy slow down.
Let it turn into thanks.
Say this quietly, if it fits.
Good things find me.
Even on regular days.
I'm glad for the small stuff.
Rest here with that warm feeling.
Let it settle down low.
Like sunshine on a garden bench.
Warm, and in no hurry.
Joy is quick.
Gratitude is what stays behind.
Let yourself sit in it.
The birds can do the talking.
If your mind wanders to the weekend...
and what you'll do Saturday night...
that's fine.
Just drift back to the happy moment.
It's still playing, right where you left it.
Let the garden get a little louder.
Feel your body again.
Stretch your arms up high.
Maybe let out a big yawn.
One happy breath in...
And out.
Here's your one thing for today.
Tell someone about something good.
It can be small.
The moment you just replayed.
Or the best part of your lunch.
Tell a coworker by the coffee machine.
Or whoever's across the dinner table.
You don't need a reason.
"Hey, guess what" is plenty.
Good news gets bigger when you share it.
Open your eyes.
And keep that little The weekend's almost here.
