Hey.
Come sit with me for a bit.
Six minutes, that's all.
If you're here...
maybe your inner voice was loud today.
Let's give it a rest.
Let your breath slow down.
There's no right way to do it.
Breathe in through your nose...
And let it fall out.
Now let your shoulders lower.
Maybe they've been up by your ears.
Let them sink an inch.
And one more breath in...
And out...
softer this time.
Let's talk about that voice.
The one in your head.
Maybe it spoke up today.
You forgot to reply to Or someone.
you spilled coffee on your shirt.
And right away it said something.
Something like...
you idiot.
Or...
what is wrong with you?
Try to catch the exact words.
Not a summary.
The actual sentence it used.
Hear it once, the way it sounded.
Notice the tone.
Is it sharp?
Or just tired of you?
And notice what it does to you.
Maybe your stomach drops.
Maybe your face gets hot.
That voice probably sounds like But you.
it didn't start Most with you.
of us picked it up somewhere.
A coach, Or maybe.
just years of trying hard.
It thinks it's keeping you But in line.
mostly, it just hurts.
And it doesn't make you do Think better.
about it.
When has being called stupid...
ever helped you find your keys?
It usually does the opposite.
You get flustered.
Then you make the next mistake faster.
So the goal isn't to silence it.
It's to add a second voice.
One that's actually on your side.
So let's try a small experiment.
Picture someone you really A like.
good friend, Someone maybe.
who's easy to Now love.
picture them making your mistake.
The same Coffee one.
all down their shirt.
They look up at you.
Embarrassed.
Waiting.
Would you say...
you idiot?
Probably not.
You'd say something else.
Something kind, and a little funny.
What would you say to them?
Let the words come.
Maybe...
hey, it's just a shirt.
Or...
that happens to everyone.
Or...
you've had a long week.
Pick the one that fits best.
Just one sentence.
Now turn it around.
Say it to yourself.
Slowly.
In your head, or out loud.
Say it again.
Slower this time.
Let each word land.
It might feel strange.
Even a little fake.
That's normal the first few times.
You've practiced the harsh voice for years.
This one is brand new.
It'll need some reps.
One more time.
Your sentence.
Your voice.
Notice how your body takes that in.
Maybe your jaw loosens.
Maybe nothing changes yet.
That's fine too.
Now just rest here.
With the rain.
Let the kinder voice hang in the air.
Like the sound of rain on the roof.
Soft, and steady.
Breathe in...
And out...
You don't have to believe it fully.
You only have to let it speak.
The old voice will still talk sometimes.
That's okay.
It just won't be the only one now.
Let the rain grow quieter now.
Stretch your fingers.
Let your eyes open, if they were closed.
A slow breath in...
And out.
Here's your next step.
Keep your new sentence close today.
The next time the old voice shows up...
and it will...
answer it with your sentence.
Just that one line.
Out loud if you're alone.
In your head if you're not.
No debate needed.
Just answer it, once.
Go have the rest of your day.
