Hi.
Let's slow things down together.
Put one hand on your belly.
Right below your ribs.
Just let it rest there.
Breathe in...
and feel your hand lift a little.
And breathe out...
feel it sink back Again.
down.
And out.
Your hand goes up and down.
Nobody has to pay for It that.
just happens.
For the next six minutes...
we're not opening any We're apps.
just calming down first.
So let's say it plainly.
Money's been on your Maybe mind.
your bank app buzzed...
and your stomach dropped before you looked.
Maybe there's a bill on the counter.
Still in its envelope.
You keep walking past it.
Or it's no one thing.
Just low a hum of "is it enough?"
Running under everything.
Where do you feel it right now?
Maybe your stomach.
Maybe a tight band across your chest.
Let your hand move there, if it wants.
Breathe into that spot.
A lot of people feel this.
More than will ever say so.
Money is hard to talk about.
So the worry stays private.
And it grows in the dark.
Like mold behind a fridge.
Worry about money isn't a character flaw.
It's your mind trying to protect you.
It's just very loud about it.
Let's try something simple.
We're going to sort.
Like sorting mail at the kitchen table.
Picture two piles in front of you.
On the left...
things you know.
Real numbers.
Real dates.
On the right...
things you're guessing.
The stories.
The what-ifs.
Now pick up one worry.
The loudest one.
Maybe it sounds like...
"I'm never going to catch up."
Is that a fact?
Or a guess?
It's a guess.
It goes on the right.
It feels true.
Fear is good at sounding sure.
But it's still a guess.
Now what do you actually know?
Maybe...
rent is due on the first.
That's a fact.
Left pile.
Maybe you don't know your balance.
That's okay.
"I haven't checked" is a fact too.
Keep going, slowly.
Breathe in...
And out...
Pick up the next worry.
"Something bad will happen."
Guess.
Right pile.
"The car payment is next Friday."
Fact.
Left pile.
Look at the two piles now.
Notice which one is taller.
For most people...
the guessing pile is way bigger.
And the facts pile?
It's usually smaller.
you Things can actually look at.
Facts can be handled.
One at a time.
Guesses just spin.
Let the right pile blur a little.
Like the rain on the roof.
Soft.
In background.
the
Now just rest.
Hand on your belly again.
Breathe in...
And out...
Listen to the rain on the roof.
The roof is holding.
You're dry.
You're here.
No decisions right now.
Let your body settle first.
Numbers look different from a calm place.
If a worry pops up again...
just ask it, fact or guess?
Then let it sit in its pile.
Alright.
Start to notice the room again.
Take your hand off your belly.
Let it rest on your knee.
Breathe in slowly...
And out.
Now one small task for today.
Just one.
Grab an old envelope and a pen.
Write down the bills due this week.
Only this week.
The name.
The amount.
The date.
If you don't know write a question mark.
That's fine.
That's your left pile, on paper.
It's real.
And now you can see all of it.
Stick it on the fridge.
Then go make yourself some tea.
You did the hard part.
