Hi.
Let's start with what we know.
You're sitting somewhere.
Feel the seat under you.
That part is certain.
Your feet are on the floor.
Press them down a little.
You can feel that too.
You're breathing.
Breathe in slowly...
And out.
Those are known things.
Right here, right now.
For the next six minutes...
we'll keep coming back to them.
Now, what don't you know yet?
Maybe you're waiting on test results.
Or on a decision someone else will make.
Or you just don't know what comes next.
Name it to yourself.
Quietly.
Plainly.
Notice what your mind does with it.
It reaches for an answer.
Any answer.
It runs the worst version.
Then the best one.
Then the worst again.
You searched might have it online.
Read things at midnight...
you wish you hadn't.
That reaching is exhausting.
And a lot of people say...
not knowing is worse than bad news.
That makes sense.
Your brain likes a closed door.
Even a disappointing one.
But this door isn't closed yet.
And pushing on it won't open it faster.
It will open when it opens.
So let's try something different.
Tomorrow is Halloween.
A whole night of spooky, just for fun.
Kids walk right up to strange doors.
In the dark.
Wearing capes.
And they're mostly giggling.
Let's borrow a little of that.
Imagine the unknown as a person.
A quiet stranger.
Sitting on a bench beside you.
You can't see their face yet.
Maybe it's a silly paper mask.
They don't say anything.
Notice the urge to make them talk.
Who are you?
What do you want?
But they just sit there.
Not threatening.
Just quiet.
So you sit too.
And you breathe.
Breathe in, slowly...
And out...
next to the stranger.
You don't need them to speak.
You don't need to know their name yet.
Notice that you're okay.
Sitting beside something you don't know.
The fear might still be there.
A tight feeling.
A flutter.
That's fine.
It can sit with you both.
Breathe in again...
And out...
You've sat next to unknowns before.
Waiting for a call back.
Waiting to hear yes, or no.
Some of those turned out fine.
Some didn't.
And you got through both kinds.
And you're still here.
Still breathing on this bench.
Maybe the stranger even seems...
a little less strange now.
Now let the bench fade.
Come back to what you know.
This breath.
In...
And The out...
wind outside, as the day gets Your dark.
feet on the floor.
You don't know what's coming.
But you know this breath.
And that's enough to stand on.
For today, anyway.
The wind settles as dusk falls.
Your seat is right where you left it.
Press your feet down once Stretch more.
your arms out wide.
A slow breath in...
Here's And out.
your next step.
Write down one thing you can control.
Just for Not today.
the result.
Not their decision.
Something in your own Maybe hands.
it's cooking a With real dinner.
vegetables, and a plate, at the table.
Or finally returning that one the email...
one that's actually up to you.
Pick just one.
The smaller, the better.
Write it on anything nearby.
Then do it, before the day The ends.
unknown can keep its secrets.
You've got one thing to do.
Go write it down.
