If your head's been a bit of a gray place lately, you're in the
right spot.
I'm not going to ask you to be cheerful.
That rarely works when you're told to.
We'll go gentler than that.
Get comfortable.
Let your eyes close, or let them rest on the floor in front of
you.
Breathe in through your nose...
slowly.
And let it out through your mouth, a little heavier than usual.
Again...
in, filling the chest.
And out...
dropping your shoulders as you go.
One Breathe more.
in like you're smelling something good baking...
And sigh You're it out.
allowed to make a sound.
Now, notice what your mind has been saying on Most repeat.
of us have one.
A thought that plays again like and again, a song stuck in It your
head.
might be "I'm behind."
Or "Nothing works out for me."
Or "I always mess this up."
Whatever yours is, just let it be there for You a moment.
don't need to argue with Fighting it.
it usually makes it Just louder.
notice the it, way you'd notice a car alarm going off down the street.
Oh.
There it is again.
And notice this It's too.
a thought.
It showed up in your head.
That doesn't make it the whole story.
Now let's look for a thought that's a bit Not truer.
a shiny one.
A fair If one.
the loop says "I'm behind," a truer thought might be "I'm doing a lot,
and some of it is getting done."
If it says "Nothing works out," maybe the truer thing is "Some things haven't
worked out.
Some have."
Find your own What version.
would a friend who really knows you say back to that loop?
Let that kinder sentence sit next to the You old one.
don't have to believe it all the way Just yet.
let it be in the room.
It might feel a bit awkward.
New thoughts usually do, at first.
Now I'll say a few affirmations.
Repeat them silently after me, if you like.
If one feels wrong, let it pass by.
I can handle today.
Good things are still possible for me.
My thoughts are not facts.
I'm allowed to feel hopeful, even I've a little.
gotten through hard days I before.
can start again, as many times as I I need.
deserve the same kindness I give other people.
Notice your head Maybe now.
it feels the tiniest bit Like lighter.
someone opened a window in a stuffy room.
If the loop comes back while we sit here, and it probably will, that's
okay.
Just notice it, and come back to the breath.
Let your forehead soften.
Let your jaw hang loose.
Positive thinking isn't pretending.
It's giving the good parts a fair hearing.
Heavy thoughts tend to sit in the body too.
Tight chest, hunched shoulders.
See if you can give yours a bit more room.
Sit up an inch.
Let the chest open.
Rest here for a few breaths.
There's nothing to prove right now.
Let the chimes do the talking for a while.
Before you go,
pick one of those affirmations to keep.
Whichever one landed best.
Say it once more, quietly.
That's your one for today.
Say it in line at the store, when you see a message you don't
It want to open.
works best in small doses.
Now wiggle your fingers.
Stretch your neck side to side.
Take a deeper breath in.
And when you're ready, open your eyes.
Same room, same day.
Maybe just a slightly kinder voice in your head.
