There's a part of you that already knows what to do.
Most days it's hard to with hear, everything else talking over it.
So for the next six minutes, we're going to go and find it.
Sit or lie down, somewhere you won't be bumped.
Let your eyes close.
Let your hands rest wherever they land.
Breathe in through your nose, slow and full.
And breathe out.
Feel yourself get a little lighter.
In again...
and imagine this breath lifting you, just slightly, above the noise of your day.
And out...
the voices and the lists getting quieter below you.
One more.
In...
And out.
Higher still.
It's calmer up here.
In front of you, there's a staircase.
Each step is made of soft light, and it holds you easily.
We'll climb ten steps together.
I'll count.
You just
walk.
One...
two...
your foot finds each step without looking.
Three...
four...
the air is cooler here, and very clean.
Five...
six...
you feel the wind, soft on your face.
Seven...
eight...
the light gets brighter,
but it doesn't hurt your eyes.
Nine...
and You're ten.
at It's the top.
a quiet, open place.
Maybe a mountain ledge.
Maybe just sky.
Let it look however it looks for you.
Someone is here with you.
You might see them, or you might just sense them They're nearby.
calm.
They Unhurried.
look at you like they've known you and forever,
they're not disappointed in you at all.
After a moment you realize who It's it is.
you.
The wiser part The of you.
one who isn't scared or rushing.
Notice how they stand.
Their shoulders are loose.
Their face is kind.
They've been through everything you've been through, and somehow they came out gentle.
Let yourself breathe the way they breathe.
Slow in...
And slow out.
It might feel strange.
That's okay.
You don't need to believe anything special for this to help.
Just let yourself be near them.
If your mind has wandered, that's fine.
It'll do that.
Come back to the top of the stairs.
They're still there, waiting.
Now ask them one question.
Silently.
What do I need to know right now?
Don't go hunting for the answer.
Just wait.
It might come as a word.
Or just a feeling somewhere in your chest.
It might be something plain, like rest, or call your sister.
The good advice usually is plain.
And if nothing comes, that's an answer too.
Sometimes it shows up later, in the shower or on a walk.
Notice how the answer feels in your body.
Inner wisdom usually feels calm and steady,
even when it asks something hard of you.
Fear tends to feel rushed.
Let your higher self say one more thing You to you.
can repeat it quietly.
I already know more than I think.
I can trust myself.
Stay here a while.
Just the two of you and the wind.
Nothing to prove to anyone.
Thank them.
You can come back here any time.
They're not going anywhere.
Turn and start walking down.
Ten, nine, eight...
seven, six, five...
Four, three, two...
and one.
Feet back on solid ground, and the message tucked safely in your pocket.
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
Take a slow breath and feel the chair or the floor under you.
When you're ready, open your eyes.
Keep that message close today.
Write it down if you think you'll lose it.
