Your eyes are Your heavy.
legs ache a little.
But your head won't let go.
That's the wired but tired feeling.
Worn out...
and still switched on.
It happens a lot on Mondays.
You're not doing anything wrong.
Your body clocked out hours ago.
Your brain is still working late.
Let's spend six minutes with it.
No fighting it.
Just letting it run down.
Lie Let back.
the rain be the loudest thing.
Let your head get heavy on the Your pillow.
phone is somewhere else.
Good.
Now notice the Where buzz.
is it hiding?
Maybe a flutter behind your ribs.
Maybe your eyes...
still moving under the lids.
Maybe your foot keeps tapping.
Under the sheet.
Like it didn't get the memo.
Or your thoughts keep skipping ahead.
To tomorrow's first meeting.
To the reply you forgot to send.
That's the leftover energy.
From too much coffee.
From one more email.
It's okay.
We're going to spend it.
A little at a time.
Begin down at your feet.
Curl your toes down hard.
Hold it.
And let them go.
Now flex them back.
Toward your knees.
A little stretch.
And let that go too.
Now your hands.
Make two loose fists.
Squeeze.
Then open them wide.
Spread your fingers out.
Give your hands a small shake.
Like drying them off.
And stop.
Let them fall wherever they fall.
Now lift your shoulders to your ears.
Hold them there.
And drop them.
Let them thud down.
Your jaw too.
Open wide, like a big yawn.
Then let it close, soft.
Roll your head once...
slowly, to one side.
And back to center.
Feel that?
A little less fizz.
Your body wanted to move.
Now it has.
Now five slow sighs.
Each one lower than the last.
You don't have to do it right.
A sigh is just a long breath out.
With a little sound at the end.
Breathe in through your nose...
And sigh it out.
Through your mouth.
That's one.
In again...
a little deeper.
And sigh...
slower this time.
That's In two.
through the And nose...
out...
like air leaking from a Three.
tire.
In...
And out...
lower...
slower.
Four.
One last one.
In...
And let it all out.
Right down to Five.
empty.
Notice what's left.
The buzz might still be there.
Just quieter.
Like a fridge humming down the hall.
The tired part is catching up now.
It's been waiting all day.
Let it in.
You don't have to feel sleepy yet.
Heavy is enough for now.
Your legs have stopped asking to move.
They're done for today.
Your arms sink into the sheets.
Your jaw can hang a little open.
Your tongue can rest.
That flutter behind your ribs...
it's slowed to a soft hum.
If a thought jumps up...
let it jump.
It'll land again.
Only the rain is working now.
Steady on the roof.
Breathing in...
And out...
The tired is winning.
Let it win.
Your eyes rest.
Your fingers loosen on the sheet.
You can sleep now.
Goodnight.
