You know that feeling when you walk out of a room and you're somehow
carrying it with you?
Let's set some of that down.
Find a comfortable seat, or lie back.
Let your hands rest wherever they land.
Close your eyes when you're ready.
Take a big breath in through your nose...
And let it fall out of your mouth, with a sigh if you like.
Once more.
In...
And out...
a little slower.
Now scan through today.
Where does it feel heavy on you?
Maybe it's a conversation that's still sitting in your stomach.
Maybe it's a place, like a crowded store or a tense office.
Or maybe it's your own worries, going around and around.
Some of it might not even be yours.
You just picked it up from someone along the way.
Notice where it sits in your body.
Maybe your shoulders, or the back of your neck.
Wherever it is, you can call it what it is:
heavy.
Now picture yourself standing at the edge of a small, clear pool.
In front of you is a waterfall.
Except this water is light.
Soft, bright, white light, pouring down.
Step in underneath it.
It's the perfect temperature.
Not cold at all.
You can hear it hitting the pool around you, a soft steady rush.
Feel it land on the crown of your head, and run down over your
face.
Your jaw a lets go little.
It pours over your shoulders and down your back.
Wherever you felt heavy, let it rinse that spot for a while longer.
Down your arms.
Off the tips of your fingers.
Down your legs and out through the soles your of feet, into the pool,
and away downstream.
You don't need to scrub.
The water does the work.
You just stand there.
If your mind drifts back to the day, that's alright.
notice, and step back under the water.
Now, still in the light, you might notice some thin threads running out from
you.
Little cords tied to people and situations you've been thinking about.
Some are fine.
They're love, and you can keep those.
Others just feel tight, or tiring.
Pick one of the tight ones.
You don't have to cut off the person.
You're only letting go of the pull.
Picture the thread slowly loosening, and drifting off in the water.
If there's another one, let that go too.
Gently.
No drama.
And say to yourself, quietly...
I can care about people without carrying their weight.
Now there's more space in you.
Let fresh, clear energy fill it.
Healing doesn't have to be dramatic.
Sometimes it's just your body remembering what it feels like to be light again.
Breathe in, and imagine that clean light filling your chest.
Breathe out, and let it spread out into your arms and legs.
One more.
Breathe in something fresh, like the air right next to falling water.
And breathe out, letting it settle all through you.
Just rest here for a while.
Clean, and quiet.
Before you step out, picture a soft glow all around you.
About an arm's length out, like a thin, warm bubble.
Give it any color you like.
Mine's usually a pale gold, but honestly it changes depending on the day.
It lets good things in.
Kindness.
Fresh air.
It lets the heavy stuff slide right off.
Okay, step out of the waterfall now.
Feel your seat underneath you again.
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
Shake your hands out a little, like you're flicking off water.
And when you're ready, open your eyes.
Look around slowly.
Everything's where you left it, but you might feel a bit lighter walking back
into it.
If some heaviness sticks to you later, that's normal.
You can come back and rinse off any time.
