5 Minute Meditation for Inner Peace
This 5 minute guided meditation is a short visit to inner quiet — not a life with no problems, a mind that is not at war with this moment. Follow the voice into the body, the breath, and a peace that can exist beside unfinished things.
Before you begin
Sit. You do not have to feel peaceful at the start. Peace is allowed to arrive late.

To begin this meditation for inner peace, let yourself find a comfortable position.
Whatever that looks like for you.
When your body feels ready, you may softly close your eyes.
Notice whether you are fighting this moment, even a little.
Peace is not a mood you chase. It is what remains when you stop the war with now.
Feel the jaw. Is it braced, as if something must be solved before you can rest?
Unclench it. You do not have to win this minute.
Imagine a lake. Not a perfect lake. A real one, with a little wind on the water.
The water can move, and still be a lake. You can have thoughts, and still be at peace.
What happens if you stop arguing with the weather of this moment?
Let the shoulders drop, as if you were setting down a debate.
And let the moment be as it is.
Continue now with the breath, as a way of arriving here.
Inhale without improving anything. Exhale without pushing anything away.
Notice the pause after the exhale. That small quiet is already peace.
If the mind starts planning a better feeling, bring it back to the lake.
Leaves can float. Ripples can pass. You do not have to smooth the surface.
Inner peace is permission: this moment does not have to be different first.
If a tight place remains in the body, include it. Do not make it the enemy.
Stopping the war does not mean you like everything. It means you stop fighting the fact of it.
Rest here, in the simple fact of breathing.
Let peace be this: you, and this moment, no longer at odds.
Now let your attention travel back. Feel the seat, the room, the air on the skin.
Take this unforced peace with you, as you slowly open your eyes.
