5 Minute Guided Meditation to Release the Day
End the shift in five guided minutes. Give the day a one-line title, then put the title on the nightstand. Loose ends are allowed to remain loose until light returns.
Before you begin

To begin this meditation to release the day, sit on the edge of the bed, or lie down.
Whatever that looks like after work — shoes off, bag set down.
When your body feels ready, you may softly close your eyes.
With your eyes closed, take a moment to clock out.
First, name the day in one quiet phrase. Then set that phrase beside the bed, as if it were a bag.
The conversations. The unfinished. They can survive until morning without you.
What else are you still carrying in the shoulders, the jaw, the hands?
What is it like to love your life and still stop working it after dark?
Release is a boundary. You are allowed to have one with the sun.
Empty hands, for now. Empty schedule, for now. Full bed.
Feel the weight of gravity taking the day out of your muscles.
The day has been given back to time. You belong to the night.
What do you notice when you stop holding the shift?
Just observe. Accept. And allow. No judgment of how the day went.
Keeping your eyes closed, allow your awareness to include the dark of the room.
The bag beside the bed. The quiet. And you, off the clock.
There is nothing left to finish. There is nowhere else to be.
If your mind wanders back to work, that is okay. Return it to the mattress.
Being connected to the bed, the breath, and this small honest end of day.
You let the day be over. Including yourself.
Lie down if you are not already. Stay with the body. No need to reopen the file.
Keep the eyes closed. Let the night keep what you set down. Rest well.
